Harrowing

We operate a tine harrow which penetrates the grass a lot better than chain harrows.  This process is a lot better at reducing thatching and getting the grass to be the dominate plant. Harrowing is traditionally carried out in the spring to prepare the ground for the forth-coming growing season.

Tine harrowing rakes the ground, dragging out any weak growth and dead matter which allows air and light to penetrate the grass cover encouraging healthy spring growth.  If the ground is soft enough this harrowing method will level out any poached (damage caused by hooves) in gateways, corners and around feeding areas after the winter's grazing.
